DEVELOPING: Debris Found Off Nantucket in Search for Missing Air Ambulance — 6 Unaccounted For
OFF NANTUCKET, Mass. — The U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed a debris field off Nantucket in the search for a medical transport plane that vanished early Saturday with six people aboard.
The aircraft, a Latitude Air Ambulance Gulfstream G100 (tail C-GRJP), was flying from Bermuda to Boston when it lost contact around 1–2 a.m. Saturday — after the pilot declared an electrical emergency, reportedly telling controllers the crew was "coming in blind."
Who was aboard
- Two Canadian pilots
- Two Canadian medics
- A Bermudian patient
- A relative of the patient
All six remain unaccounted for. The Coast Guard search covers roughly 1,644 square miles, with the cutter William Sparling on scene. A USCG press conference was scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday.
What we know
- Debris was confirmed late Saturday night off Nantucket; officials have not confirmed it is from the missing Gulfstream.
- No distress beacon details, no confirmed cause — the investigation is in its earliest stages.
- The flight was a medical transport, not a commercial passenger flight.
