One dead, 14-year-old critical after quadruple shooting on Detroit's west side
Detroit police are searching for suspects after a quadruple shooting late Saturday night left one person dead and a 14-year-old boy in critical condition on the city's west side.
What happened
Officers found the four victims just after 10:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Wabash Street, near Grand River Avenue, police said.
- One adult victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he had a firearm and a tether on him.
- A 14-year-old, shot in the stomach, is in critical condition.
- An 18-year-old woman and a 23-year-old were also shot; both are in stable condition.
The shooters fled on foot after the shooting, and no additional information about the circumstances was immediately available.
What police say
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison briefed the media on the shooting, which came after officers received a 911 call reporting shots fired at 10:16 p.m. and arrived two minutes later.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP, Detroit Rewards TV, or the Detroit Police Department.
Context
The shooting capped a violent weekend in Detroit. Separately, police said Saturday afternoon they had two "people of interest" in custody after the shooting death of Donovan Moss, 18, on the city's east side early Friday (ShotSpotter alert near Cheshire and Moross at 3:30 a.m.). Moss's family identified him to FOX 2; he had recently graduated high school and was working two jobs to support his young daughter.
This is a developing story. We'll update as police release more.
