Hebron High teacher turns herself in on child sex crime warrants
A Lewisville ISD teacher charged with two child sex crimes involving a Hebron High School student turned herself in to police on Tuesday, October 6.
Gloria Reséndiz, 35, a teacher at Hebron High School in Lewisville, Texas, was charged Monday, October 5, with indecency with a child – sexual contact and child grooming. Carrollton police obtained the arrest warrants Monday but had not yet detained her before she surrendered at the Carrollton Jail on Tuesday. She has since been transported to the Denton County Jail.
How the case surfaced
- On Sunday, September 27, a Hebron High School administrator alerted Carrollton police to concerning communications between Reséndiz and the student.
- The investigation revealed evidence of what police described as an inappropriate relationship between Reséndiz and a juvenile student.
- The student was enrolled in one of Reséndiz's classes during a prior school year but is not currently enrolled in a class with her.
District response
Lewisville ISD has placed Reséndiz on administrative leave and prohibited her from entering any district facility. The district is also offering counseling services to students through Hebron High School counselors.
Reséndiz has been charged but not convicted. The case now moves through the Denton County court process.
