73 Days of Freedom, Then Back to Prison: Sara Polston Charged With Voting While Ineligible

Headline card by The Night Desk
Sara Polston's brief taste of freedom is over.
Polston — serving an 8-year sentence over a 2023 DUI crash in which her blood alcohol content measured .158 — had served just 73 days behind bars before being released home on a GPS ankle monitor. On October 1, she was hauled back into custody.
The new charges, filed Friday, October 2: two felony counts of voting while ineligible, tied to the June 16 primary and the August 25 runoff.
The case carries a political charge as well. Reporting has noted grand-jury context around the governor's orbit, including $27,800 in donations and the governor's "multiple calls" — a thread investigators and reporters will keep pulling.
Two felony voting counts on top of an 8-year DUI sentence. The Night Desk will track where this one lands.
