Flyer Canvass Cracks Tampa Homicide: Suspect Turns Himself In

Sometimes the oldest trick in the book is the one that works. Tampa Police detectives spent Friday, October 2 walking door to door near Nebraska Avenue, handing out flyers with a suspect's photo in connection with a September 22, 2026 deadly shooting on Nebraska Avenue near McEwen Avenue.

It took one look. An individual identified the man in the flyer as Michael Knobloch (36, DOB 11/27/1989). Shortly after, Knobloch turned himself in at Orient Road Jail.

The charges

Knobloch is now charged with Murder in the First-Degree Premeditated Firearm — Great Bodily Harm/Death, per the department's October 3 release.

What the chief said

"I want to commend the work of our detectives who remained committed to getting justice for the victim's family," said Acting Chief Brett Owen. "Information provided by members of our community helped detectives identify the suspect, and we are grateful to everyone who assisted with this investigation. While nothing can bring their loved one back, we hope this arrest brings some sense of accountability as they grieve this loss."

The victim has not been publicly named. Tampa Police say this is an active investigation and additional updates will be provided as available.
